Mad Max Cars on Display - help! - Page 1 - Goodwood Events - PistonHeads - This is an image of several traditional hanging coffins, known as Tau Tau in the Igorotes of the Philippines. The coffins are adorned with metal parts, possibly rods or wires, and have intricate patterns and beadwork. They are suspended between tall wooden poles, which are often intricately designed, against a backdrop of a partly cloudy sky. Despite being an inanimate object, the Tau Tau appears to exhibit a sense of sagging heaviness, akin to grief or mourning. This type of burial is part of an indigenous funeral tradition where the bodies are placed in awe-inspiring and sometimes shocking display, often to discourage theft or disputes over the deceased's grave.
